Welcome to the Correia Middle School Jazz Ensemble Webpage. Jazz Ensemble is Correia 's advance level jazz band and is designed for experienced music students with multiple years of music experience. Instrumentation for this band is limited to a standard "Big Band" of: 4 trumpet, 5 sax, 4 trombone, 4 rhythm (guitar, bass, drums, piano). Admittance into this class is through the instructor's selection and/or by audition. In this class, students first review fundamental knowledge of jazz music, improvisation, and then study and perform music of all styles. Genres covered in this class include: swing, bebop, dixieland, funk, and rock Festivals, concert programs, and tours are a large part of the course and participation is expected. A commitment to afterschool rehearsals two to three times a week is required.

Binder Checklist
Mr. Dwyer will occasionally check you class binder to be sure you have everything you need for class. These checks are graded pass/fail. If your binder includes everything on this checklist, you pass. If not, you will not pass and will need to complete additional work to make-up your grade.
