On Thursday, Oct. 29th seventh and eight graders and their families weaved a web of fun as students came in costume (or not) and enjoyed a boo-ti-ful evening of games, music and fangtastic food! ASB teachers John Snedden and Keri Clark lead their Boo Crew to the costumed courtyard where the kids staffed games and concessions throughout the evening. Mr. Dwyer lead his advanced and intermediate bands as they played haunting Halloween arrangements such as themes from Harry Potter, Hits from the Broadway Musical The Wicked and other spooky classics. The orchestra carved out some terrific pieces as well and Ms. Ina Soliz lead the Corriea Choir with chills and thrills as her students gave a great performance

There were raffle prizes every witch way! More goblin’ good harvest time eats and treats were served up by the Band Boo-sters! The kids performed remarkably well considering it is so early in the school year. Look for more great things to come from Corriea kids.

50 Best Moms Contest
by Andy Roder
I am a 13 year old boy who has kidney failure, and my mom has learned so much information to take care of me that she is like a walking hospital. My mom has to put me on to peritoneal dialysis every single night. My dialysis machine acts as my kidneys by filtering my blood and getting the unnecessary liquid out of my body. Without my dialysis machine and my mom to help me, I would get very swollen ankles, and go into kidney failure. It has been over 60 days of every single night going to bed at 7:30 so I could stop dialysis in time to get to school. Each time the dialysis would hurt as it drained some fluid out of my peritoneum. During the painful parts of dialysis, my mom is always with me so she can make sure that I am okay. When I am not on dialysis, I still have to take a shot every Tuesday for energy, because when you have bad kidneys, you have low energy. My mom is the one who helps do every thing medical. We both practiced doing shots with a nurse who taught us at the hospital. For how to do my shot, my mom practiced on an orange again and again so that she wouldn’t do it wrong and to make sure that I’d be okay every time. Without my mom it would have been hard to get dialysis and my shot done. She helps me understand my homework if I don’t get it. Now it is turning into me explaining my homework to my Mom, it is so complicated, but it still helps me remember by explaining things to my Mom. She always tells me how strong I am and that I can do anything. My kidneys may fail on me, but my Mom never will.
